Private ambulance company starts EMS services in DC tomorrow.

amr-ambulance-300x199In February 2016, American Medical Response (AMR) was asked to assist DCFEMS with the additional call load for EMS services in the city. As part of the agreement, the company will operate and maintain 29 private ambulances with up to 25 Available during high-call volume periods. The private units will be spread throughout the city and could be on the scene of an incident within 10 minutes after dispatch.

We think that its probably a good deal for citizens and visitors who need fast ems service, but it definitely points out how poor planning and bad management decisions by our elected and appointed city officials have hampered city services over the years.

What’s your take on this DC?

Smack Down at the OUC?

Thanks to a recently emailed tip, the Concerned Citizen has learned of an incident that smackdown1reportedly took place a couple of weeks ago at DC’s unified communications center.

It appears that just as the new director, Ms. Karima Holmes, is attempting to normalize operations at the OUC, a disturbing incident occurred inside the 911 operations center that involved one employee physically punching another.

Upon further contact with sources on the inside, we were informed that the combative employee has been placed on administrative leave with pay, and that assault charges may have been filed with MPD.

As always, the Concerned Citizen will continue to monitor the situation, as we receive and investigate your tips and inside information, so as to keep the tax paying residents of the District of Columbia informed.

911 Director Moves Forward!

OUC_Logo2Today, the Concerned Citizen heard from sources inside the Office of Unified Communications, (DC911). It appears that the new director, Ms. Karima Holmes, is holding true to her word and moving forward to identify and correct internal problems within her agency by scheduling a personal 15 minute meeting for any employee that wants to speak with her to discuss issues and problems that plague the agency.

We think this is an impressive start to her administration and we applaud her efforts; however, the Concerned Citizen will continue to monitor activities and developments within the agency and report on the director’s progress for our tax paying citizens and the hard working employees of DC911.

The Concerned Citizen urges 911 employees to let us know how things are going inside your agency by your comments and/or email to…   ja_cohen@theconcernedcitizen.net

Street Fighters…

Illustration of Donald Trump by Alexander HunterIn an article written by Monica Crowley of the Washington Times, Donald Trump is described as a street fighter for the GOP.

Well, some of our city officials seem to think a street car, that runs 2 miles in Northeast, is more important then fixing ongoing problems that have plagued our city for years like crime, housing, 911, and the Metro for example.

Maybe concerned citizens in DC need to get rid of, (vote out), some of the old dead weight we have sitting on the council and elect a few new, tough, no-nonsense Street Fighters to set priorities in order and make our city great again. If you agree, remember this during future local elections.
